ART PORTRAITS
Our goal is to catch the resemblance, spark of life and uniqueness of a face and presence. Portrait paintings and drawings make wonderful gifts that will be treasured for generations.
Self-taught artist Caroline Bergonzi composes creative images and has worked on fashion photo shoots for years.
She studied figurative arts in New York under Nelson Shanks teaching, whose clear and clean methodology was a huge influence. His passion for colors as well as his “color studies” technique and belief that “It is easier to dull a strong color than to wake up a dead one” opened a new horizon and vocabulary for her. Since 2007 she has constantly refined her drawing and grisaille technique. (Grisaille is a monochromatic painting, traditionally used as an under painting).
Caroline has received several grants for her work. In Philadelphia (Studio Incamminati) and in New York. She also studied under Costa Vavagiakis, whom she considers a master at modeling shapes and rendering a 3D effect.
In Caroline’s 2010 solo exhibition catalog, His Highness Mr. Rene Novella, Private Advisor to the Prince of Monaco, wrote “... she chose the portrait, with an impressive success which makes me predict that she will reach there the perfection of her incontestable talent...”
The first session is about watching and learning about the subject. Depending on what we want to achieve in terms of technique and size, from face to shoulders or the upper body including hands, we set up a plan of action and schedule an appropriate number of sessions.
Our portrait painting service can be commissioned by organizations such as corporations and foundations or private individuals. Portrait paintings and drawings make wonderful gifts that will be treasured for generations. As portraiture involves an intimate connection between artist and subject, we prefer to work in person, however we are open to creating portraits from photographs.

- Five to seven 4 hour-session live portrait of the subject's face, torso, and hands, est. 30"x30"
