PRESS: VELUM / PORTRAIT of C. BERGONZI

A new Da Vinci has risen.

Caroline Bergonzi grew up under the Mediterranean sky in Monaco, with a diverse background in both fashion management and the video game industry. Her drive for personal freedom brought her to picturesque Paris, Italy and even China, for an enlightening discovery of inspirational freedom. This freedom spreads its wings in the form of her raw and powerful sculptures, that raise their metallic contours like a phoenix aiming for the sky.

CAROLINE BERGONZI: PUBLIC ART ON GOVERNORS ISLAND, NY

Coming event : SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 4TH, SCULPTORS GUILD EVENT.

RED PHOENIX by Caroline Bergonzi, made in painted steel in New York, in June 2016. Statue H5’ x W4’, with base, 11 foot-high.

Made at the occasion of the Sculptors Guild exhibition "American Twist", on Governors Island, this semi abstract flying eagle echoes the many representations around the site, as a powerful symbol for the American culture way beyond the Native culture. The plain flat sheet of steel it cut out from though, refers to the industrial age and the long cuts of red metal to the Stars and Stripes. The fact it’s cut and formed from one piece evokes unity. The title brings a sense of transformation, towards a bright rebirth.

On display until September 24th 2016.
