Caroline Bergonzi is an artist with a very rich sprit and a remarkable talent, deeply rooted in the contemporary and constantly stimulated by the multiplicity of signs and interference with the human masses.
Her hands are one with the creative act; her intelligence, her deep sensitivity, her poetry complement each others through the artistic practice, which becomes a liberating moment. “I am passionate about the process, the how-to,” and thanks to this credo in the creative act, in the concreteness of its production, Caroline experiments different techniques (...). The title of her exhibition, FROM SCRATCH (literally from nothing). shows her intention to reach what is essential, to free and show the purity of the lines. FROM SCRATCH also refers to the techniques used by the artist. In her recent textures works, she mastered black acrylic and Chinese ink, smoothly brushed or scratched with a pointy knife. (...) Another facet of the artist’s sculpture. A pleasant component, slender, pure, with a Japanese flair. Pleasant because crude and resolutely inventive as well. Pieces sometimes impressive and sometimes small, ranging from the everyday object as with distorted meaning to reflections on the penetration of the human body in the air. What we particularly liked is the imperfect aspect of these pieces. The artist obviously freed herself from the pictorial discipline, objects emerge from empiric life experience, the curves are sometimes battered, chased, tormented, as a violence release, implicit and intense, but not necessarily channeled.
